Head of Finance

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Head of Finance, candidate will:

– Manage financial systems and budgets.

– Undertake financial audits (an independent check of an organisation’s financial position).

– Provide financial advice.

– Liaise with clients (individuals or businesses) and provide financial information and advice.

– Review the company’s systems and analyse risk.

– Perform tests to check financial information and systems.

– Advise clients on tax planning (within current legislation to enable them to minimize their tax liability) and tax issues associated with activities such as business acquisitions and mergers.

– Maintain accounting records and prepare accounts and management information for small businesses (accountancy).

– Advise clients on business transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions (corporate finance).

– Counsel clients on areas of business improvement, or dealing with insolvency.

– Detect and prevent fraud (forensic accounting).

– Manage junior colleagues.

– Liaise with internal and external auditors (where applicable) and deal with any financial irregularities as they arise.

– Produce reports and recommendations following internal audits or public sector audits.

– Prepare financial statements, including monthly and annual accounts.

– Arrange financial management reports, including financial planning and forecasting.

– Advise on tax and treasury issues.

– Tracking budget and accounting information, such as billing, collections and tax information.

– Overseeing the taxation affairs of the company and liaising with the external tax firm for advice.

– Implementing and advising on strategies to increase revenue and reduce costs.

– Researching market changes and using them to provide strategic financial recommendations.

– Conducting risk management analyses to ensure the company has a solid risk framework in operation.

– Performing investment appraisals and analyses

– Overseeing the cash flow of the business and ensuring it has appropriate treasury controls in place

– Managing the end-to-end audit process of current financial systems

– Preparing financial statements and business activity reports and presenting them to top executives

– Recommending cost reduction strategies and allocating budgets

– Overseeing commercial decision-making from margin analysis, tender analysis and pricing analysis

REQUIREMENTS:

– Bachelor’s/PG degree in accounting.

– Must have CA degree.

– Completion of Articles.

– 8 to 10 years post article ship experience.

– Registration with accredited statutory body and association.

– Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

– Fully compliant as a tax practitioner.

– Filing of corporate tax returns.

– Experience in providing financial advice.
