Relationship Manager BBG (Business Banking Group) – Working Capital Focus


Key Responsibilities

Business Development and Client Acquisition

– Acquire new-to-bank business clients within the BBG segment to significantly grow the portfolio size and achieve assigned targets for liability, assets, and fee income.

– Identify, prospect, and on-board clients requiring Working Capital facilities (Fund-based and Non-Fund-based) and other lending products.

– Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline to ensure sustained business growth.

Relationship Management and Portfolio Growth

– Manage and deepen existing client relationships by acting as a single point of contact and providing exceptional banking service.

– Conduct a thorough financial and operational needs analysis for clients to proactively cross-sell and up-sell the bank’s entire suite of products, including trade finance, foreign exchange, term loans, business current accounts, and Cash Management Services (CMS).

– Drive higher wallet share and client profitability by increasing product penetration.

Credit Appraisal and Risk Management

– Conduct detailed credit assessments and due diligence on client proposals, focusing on financial statements analysis, business model viability, and collateral valuation.

– Prepare comprehensive Credit Proposals (Notes) in line with the bank’s credit policy, highlighting key risks and mitigants, and presenting them to the Credit/Risk team for approval.

– Ensure timely follow-up, documentation, and smooth disbursement of approved facilities.

– Proactively monitor the portfolio’s health, track utilization, and manage early warning signals (EWS) to ensure the quality of assets remains superior, minimizing Non-Performing Assets (NPAs).

Process & Compliance

– Coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders including Credit, Risk, Operations, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure efficient and error-free processing and client servicing.

– Ensure strict adherence to all internal policies, regulatory guidelines (RBI/SEBI), and KYC/AML norms in all client dealings and documentation.

Market Intelligence

– Stay updated with market trends, competitive offerings, and changes in the economic environment or regulatory framework that could impact the BBG segment.

– Provide regular feedback to product teams to help tailor solutions that meet evolving client needs.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA/CA/CFA qualification is highly desirable.

Experience: Proven experience (minimum 3 years for Manager level; higher for AVP) as a Relationship Manager within the Business Banking, SME, or Corporate Banking division of a reputed Bank/NBFC.

Core Expertise: Deep functional knowledge of Working Capital financing (e.g., CC, OD, BG, LC), term loans, trade finance products, and credit appraisal methodology.

Skills: Strong analytical ability, excellent negotiation and presentation skills, and a proven track record of achieving sales targets.
