About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Tax Expert to join our team as a Senior Product Manager. You will be the bridge between complex hedge fund taxation rules and our software development team. Your primary goal is to help design, build, and manage a technology product that solves real-world tax problems for the financial industry.
Key Responsibilities:
– Product Strategy: Help define the vision and plan (roadmap) for our tax software product.
– Backlog Management: Create and prioritize a list of product features and improvements.
– Market Research: Analyze competitor products and market trends to ensure our product stays relevant.
– Problem Solving: Work with users and engineers to find solutions to complex tax challenges.
– Project Management: Lead project meetings and communicate progress to all stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For (Requirements):
– 6+ years of hands-on experience in Hedge Fund and Private Equity Taxation.
– Strong understanding of hedge fund structures and complex tax concepts like Wash Sales, Straddles, and Book-to-Tax adjustments.
– Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complicated topics simply.
– Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at once.
– A collaborative mindset and a passion for building great software products.
What You’ll Need (Qualifications & Experience):
Essential:
6+ years of direct experience in taxation, specifically for Hedge Funds and/or Private Equity Funds.
Deep Domain Knowledge: A strong understanding of:
Hedge fund structures (e.g., master-feeder, side pockets) and partnership accounting.
Core tax concepts: Wash Sales, Constructive Sales, Straddles, Qualified Dividend Income (QDI).
Book-to-Tax adjustments for complex financial instruments (e.g., Section 1256, 988, 871(m)).
Proven Product Sense: Experience in a product-oriented role (Product Manager, Business Analyst, Lead SME) within a software or FinTech environment.
Exceptional Communication: Outstanding verbal and written skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Highly Desirable:
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
A demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
A collaborative and proactive attitude, with a high level of personal maturity and leadership.
A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A CPA or MST is a significant plus.
