Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Chartered Accountant with 7-10 years of experience, preferably within the NBFC, Banking, SME, or mortgage business sectors, to serve as the Financial Controller. This critical role reports directly to the CFO and is responsible for leading the entire financial operations of the company. Key responsibilities include overseeing complex financial reporting, establishing and enforcing rigorous internal financial controls, managing accounting operations, driving the budgeting and variance analysis process, ensuring comprehensive regulatory compliance, and actively supporting Investor Relations for fundraising initiatives.

Job Description:

Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations:

– Oversee and own the preparation and timely presentation of all statutory financial statements, including the Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, and detailed Cash Flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards.

– Direct the daily and period-end accounting operations, managing managers responsible for functions like invoicing, Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR).

– Utilize strong accounting skills to manage the general ledger, complex entries, and final consolidation processes.

– Implement and enforce strict financial policies and procedures across the organization to guide day-to-day financial decisions and transactions.

Internal Controls, Compliance, and Audits:

– Design, establish, monitor, and rigorously enforce comprehensive internal financial controls and safeguards to protect company assets against fraud and inefficiency, demonstrating high ethics, integrity, and dependability.

– Ensure absolute legal, regulatory, and contractual compliance for all financial reporting and statutory requirements applicable to the financial services sector.

– Serve as the primary point of contact and coordinate the provision of accurate information to external, internal, and concurrent auditors, managing audit timelines and resolving queries efficiently.

FP&A and Strategic Support:

– Lead the annual and periodic budgeting cycle, collaborating with department heads to establish financial targets and resource allocation plans.

– Conduct detailed Variance Analysis, investigating significant deviations between actual results and budget/prior periods, providing actionable insights to the CFO and senior leadership.

– Utilize knowledge and understanding of financial analysis techniques to model and forecast future financial performance and liquidity requirements.

– Play an active role in building and managing Investor Relations processes and documentation essential for successful fundraising efforts.

Process Excellence and Analytical Skills:

– Champion the creation of best in class Turnaround Time (TAT) and processes within the Finance department, always maintaining a solution-focused approach to operational challenges.

– Utilize excellent analytical skills and the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to support business decisions.

– Demonstrate proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for complex financial modeling, documentation, and executive presentations.

Technical Skills Required:

– Strong accounting skills (Deep understanding of IND AS/IFRS preferred)

– Knowledge and understanding of financial analysis techniques (e.g., ratio analysis, valuation)

– Excellent analytical skills and critical thinking ability

– Proficiency with MS Excel (advanced), Word, and PowerPoint

– AI / Power BI or similar Business Intelligence tools (added advantage)
