A key leadership role within the third line of defense. This individual will be responsible for leading and executing complex audit engagements across the organization, with a primary focus on [mention specific areas, e.g., Capital Markets, Wealth Management, Credit Risk, Operational Risk, IT General Controls]. The successful candidate will provide independent and objective assurance to senior management and the Audit Committee on the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal controls. This role requires strong technical audit skills, business acumen, and the ability to manage relationships with senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Audit Execution & Delivery:

– Plan, lead, and execute risk-based audit engagements from start to finish, including planning, scoping, fieldwork, reporting, and issue follow-up.

– Develop comprehensive risk and control matrices, audit programs, and testing strategies.

– Supervise and review the work of junior audit staff, ensuring quality and adherence to department and professional standards (IIA).

– Identify, assess, and document control weaknesses, operational inefficiencies, and potential compliance issues.

– Draft clear, concise, and impactful audit reports for senior management and the Audit Committee.

– Validate the remediation actions taken by management to address audit findings.

Stakeholder Management & Communication:

– Build and maintain effective working relationships with key business stakeholders, including senior management in the first and second lines of defense.

– Effectively communicate audit scope, findings, and recommendations to process owners.

– Present complex issues in a clear and persuasive manner, both verbally and in writing.

– Serve as a trusted advisor to the business on risk and control matters.

Risk Assessment & Team Leadership:

– Contribute to the continuous risk assessment process for the annual audit plan.

– Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks relevant to the business areas covered.

– Mentor, coach, and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

– Participate in departmental initiatives to enhance audit methodology, tools, and processes.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

– Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.

– 6+ years of experience in internal audit, external audit (Big 4 or equivalent), or a related risk/control function within the financial services industry.

– Proven experience leading audits and managing small teams.

– Strong understanding of internal auditing standards, COSO framework, and risk management practices.

– Excellent knowledge of financial products and services [e.g., investment banking, asset management].
