Overview

Analyst – Financial Modelling & Business

Financial Modelling and Valuation:

– Develop and maintain financial models (including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, valuation) for infrastructure projects, preferably Power and Renewable Energy sector

– Forecast future financial statements, understanding of Capex / Opex, and analyze project returns and profitability (NPV, IRR, ROI).

– Evaluate project feasibility through scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and risk assessments.

– Develop financial projections for infrastructure investment and financing options (debt, equity, structured).

– Work on complex financial simulations and modeling related to asset management, cost-benefit analysis, and the impact of policy changes.

– Valuation using multiple methodology

Business Analysis:

– Conduct competitive analysis, do extensive market research to provide actionable insights into infrastructure trends, opportunities, and challenges.

– Interface between internal teams and external agencies, advisors, investment bankers, consultants

– Analyze financial and operational performance, identifying key drivers and areas for improvement.

Preparation of MIS Reporting and Presentation:

– Prepare regular financial and operational reports for internal stakeholders, investors, and regulatory authorities.

– Prepare Information Memorandum, Presentations and MIS for Management reporting

– Prepare Investor pitches, presentations, Data rooms for Due Diligence

Proficiencies:

– Utilize software tools like Excel, Power BI, etc. to create models and track financial performance.

– Ensure proper documentation of all financial models, MIS reports, and forecasts for future reference.

Skills and Competencies:

Technical Skills:

– Strong understanding of financial concepts (NPV, IRR, payback period, sensitivity analysis, etc.), funding mechanism through equity, debt and structured instruments.

– Ability to understand Annual Reports, Accounting standards /policies

– Strong understanding of Valuation

Analytical Skills:

– Strong quantitative skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret large datasets.

– Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights.

– Attention to detail and the ability to develop strategic recommendations based on financial analysis.

Industry Knowledge:

– Familiarity with the Indian infrastructure sector, including government regulations, project financing, and infrastructure development processes.

– Knowledge of the specific challenges in the infrastructure sector, such as cost overruns, delays, regulatory hurdles, and financing complexities.

Communication Skills:

– Strong presentation skills for presenting financial analyses and project evaluations to senior management, clients, or investors.

– Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.

– Writing skills for preparing reports, business cases, and proposals.

– Softer skills – Problem solving, Team player, Motivated and Self driven individuals

– Expert Proficiency in MS Office

Qualifications:

Educational Background:

– Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or related fields

– Professional certifications like CA (Chartered Accountant), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), FRM (Financial Risk Management) can be an added advantage.

Experience:

– 5-10 years of work experience

– Mandatory experience of around 3 years in financial modeling, business analysis, or project finance in infrastructure.

– The role is dynamic, requiring a blend of financial acumen, sector-specific knowledge, and strategic insight into infrastructure projects in India.
