General Manager – Financial Controller

Job Description:

The GM – Financial Controller will oversee the full spectrum of finance and accounts for the agri business vertical, ensuring financial stability, strategic planning, cost efficiency, and compliance. This leadership role involves managing the finance function across operations, supply chain, procurement, sales, and distribution-supporting sustainable and profitable growth across the agricultural value chain.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Analysis:

– Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models.

– Conduct variance analysis, identify risks/opportunities, and provide strategic insights to business leaders.

– Drive long-term financial planning aligned with agri-seasonality, input-output cycles, and market volatility.

Controllership & Compliance:

– Ensure timely and accurate monthly/quarterly/annual financial closing, reporting, and audits.

– Implement robust internal controls across regional locations (warehouses, procurement hubs, depots).

– Ensure compliance with IFRS/Ind AS, Companies Act, GST, Income Tax, and other regulatory frameworks.

Working Capital & Treasury:

– Monitor working capital, receivables, and payables with a focus on improving cash flows.

– Manage banking relationships, short-term borrowings, LC/BG facilities, and forex exposure.

Costing & Inventory Control:

– Implement effective costing mechanisms (especially in seed production, warehousing, logistics).

– Monitor procurement efficiency, wastage control, and inventory valuation in agri supply chain.

Business Partnering:

– Partner with functional heads (Sales, SCM, Operations, Agronomy) to support pricing, margin analysis, and ROI-driven decisions.

– Enable better input cost projections, subsidy management, and project feasibility analysis.

Strategic Projects & MIS:

– Drive financial automation, ERP improvements (SAP/Oracle/D365), and digitization in reporting.

– Develop real-time dashboards, business MIS, and scenario-based analytics to support leadership decisions.

Key Requirements:

– Qualifications: CA / CPA / MBA (Finance) – Must have strong technical foundation.

– Experience: 15+ years in core finance roles, including 5+ years in a leadership/controller position.

– Industry: Prior experience in Agri Business (Seeds, Crop Protection, Fertilizers, Warehousing, or Commodity Trading) preferred.

– Systems: Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and advanced Excel/Power BI.
