Job Description :

– The Head – Collection Strategy will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of strategies for loan collections, recovery, and minimizing defaults. This leadership role will require a deep understanding of the collections process within the Indian financial ecosystem, including retail and SME lending.

Description:

Strategic Leadership:

– Define and execute a comprehensive collection strategy to optimize recoveries while reducing overall delinquencies and defaults.

– Work with senior leadership to align collection strategies with business objectives, risk management policies, and customer-centric goals.

– Drive innovative approaches, leveraging data-driven insights, to improve collection efficiency and effectiveness.

Portfolio Management:

– Analyze portfolio performance, identifying trends, potential risks, and areas for improvement.

– Develop and implement strategies for early-stage collections, delinquent accounts, and charged-off assets.

– Collaborate with credit risk, operations, and analytics teams to optimize loan recovery processes.

Operations Optimization:

– Oversee day-to-day collection operations, ensuring adherence to key performance indicators (KPIs) and optimizing operational efficiency.

– Establish and maintain robust processes for collections across multiple channels (e.g., tele-calling, field collections, legal, etc.).

– Utilize automation tools, AI, and analytics to streamline processes and enhance customer experience while managing costs effectively.

Team Management:

– Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performance team of collection managers, agents, and analysts.

– Develop and implement training programs to build and enhance the skill sets of the team in handling challenging customer scenarios and increasing productivity.

– Establish a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous improvement within the collections function.

Risk and Compliance Management:

– Ensure that collection practices comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies, including fair debt collection practices and customer protection laws.

– Regularly assess risk exposure related to collections and propose mitigation strategies.

– Ensure the adherence to guidelines and reporting standards for legal and customer-facing teams.

Profile:

– Experience: Minimum 15+ years of experience in collections, recovery, or risk management with top-tier banks or NBFCs in India. At least 5+ years in leadership roles managing large teams and overseeing collections strategy.

– Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of collections in consumer, SME, and retail loan portfolios, with expertise in the risk and regulatory environment.

– Data Analytics & Technology: Proven track record of using data analytics, automation, and digital tools to optimize collections and recoveries. Familiarity with AI, machine learning, or predictive analytics will be a plus.

– Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership, internal teams, and external partners.

– Problem Solving: Excellent analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills with the ability to handle complex collection situations effectively.

– Leadership & Communication: Ability to lead, motivate, and build high-performing teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

– Educational Qualifications: A Postgraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or related fields from a reputed institution.
