Overview
Lead – Indirect Taxation, LLB & CA/CMA
Key Deliverables:
– Oversee and manage the end-to-end GST compliance for the company, including returns, audits, assessments, and reconciliations.
– Ensure timely and accurate filing of GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-9C and other related forms.
– Monitor and manage GST input tax credit, reverse charge mechanism, e-invoicing, e-way bills, and HSN/SAC classifications.
– Handle GST implications on exports and other cross-border trade matters.
– Lead the representation and liaison activities with GST authorities for assessments, audits, inquiries, and notices.
– Advise internal stakeholders on GST implications for business transactions, new projects, and commercial agreements.
– Review GST positions on various transactions and identify potential risks and opportunities for tax planning and optimization.
– Lead and mentor a team of GST professionals, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous skill development.
– Ensure regular updates and communication of GST law changes and their impact on business to the senior management.
Key Performance Indicators:
– Tax risk incidents (audit findings, disputes): Target = Zero significant findings in tax audit
– Updates on new tax regulations: Target = 100% communicated to stakeholders within Y days
– Number of audit-related penalties: Target = Zero
– Advise on GST implications for new transaction 100% communicated to stakeholders.
– Ensure 100% refund within 45 days of filing of return.
Education: CA, LLB (Tax Laws) / ICWA, LLB (Tax Laws)
Experience: 15 to 20 years of hands-on experience in GST & indirect taxation in large manufacturing organizations, preferably with export exposure
Skillset:
– Strong understanding of GST law and related rules & notifications.
– Proven track record of dealing with GST authorities and handling audits/assessments.
– Experience managing a team and coordinating with cross-functional departments.
– Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
– Good command over SAP ways of working
– Expert level of command over Excel and related automation tools.

Must Have Requirement:
– Understanding of tax implications specific to export oriented manufacturing industry, including R&D tax credits, capital goods depreciation, and environmental levies
– In-depth knowledge of direct and indirect tax laws, including corporate tax, GST, excise, and customs regulations
– Familiarity with Indian Customs law , international tax laws, treaties, and transfer pricing rules, especially for businesses operating in multiple jurisdictions.
