Job Description:
Objective:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join our Indirect Taxation team, focusing on customs-related matters and international trade compliance. This role is critical to ensuring our cross-border operations remain efficient, compliant, and strategically aligned with global trade regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
– Manage and oversee all customs-related compliance activities of imports and exports for India and other countries.
– Ensure timely and accurate filing of customs documentation, including Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills, and related declarations.
– Monitor and interpret changes in customs laws, trade agreements (e.g., FTAs, PTAs), and global trade regulations impacting our operations.
– Liaise with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders to resolve classification, valuation, and duty-related issues.
– Optimize duty structures and avail benefits under various trade schemes (e.g., Advance Authorization, EPCG, DRAW BACK, RODTEP, SEZ, etc.).
– Support internal audits and assessments related to customs and international trade matters.
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams (logistics, procurement, legal, finance) to ensure end-to-end compliance in international transactions.
– Provide advisory support on structuring international trade flows to minimize tax exposure and enhance supply chain efficiency.
Education and Experience:
– Chartered Accountant (CA), Cost Accountant (CMA), Master of Business Management (MBA) or equivalent qualification in taxation, law, or international trade.
– 8-10 years of relevant experience in customs compliance and international trade, preferably in a manufacturing or multinational environment.
– Strong understanding of Indian customs laws, and familiarity with US and EU customs frameworks.
– Experience with HS code classification, valuation rules, and trade documentation.
– Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and customs filing platforms (ICEGATE, etc.).
– Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Attributes:
– Certification in international trade or customs law (e.g., Diploma in Export-Import Management, WCO courses).
– Working experience of organization which has global presence.
– Exposure to Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), Rules of Origin, and global trade optimization strategies.
– Ability to work independently and manage multiple jurisdictions and time zones.
